With over 13 years in the trades, Cody Topolnicky of BAC Local 1 Alberta is no stranger to hard work or personal growth. This spring, he traveled to the BAC/IMI International Training Center to take his skills to the next level by earning IMTEF's Supervisor Certification. Now, Cody’s not just building on his technical knowledge, he’s preparing to lead.
"This training has been amazing, and I feel confident about applying what I’ve learned in my next job. One of my biggest takeaways is blueprint reading. It was the missing piece in my skill set, and now I feel ready to dive in—no more practicing in the job site trailer!
As I work toward becoming a foreman, these lessons are shaping the kind of leader I want to be. The old-school mentality of tearing people down doesn’t work. As a new dad, I want to be better for both my crew and my children. It's about building each other up and empowering the next generation. This training is helping me grow, not just as a tradesperson, but also as a mentor."
